Food

  • Mzo’s love for cooking was born out of necessity. Having to live by himself in the big city, he quickly had to learn how to cook. Paying attention to his mom cooking paid dividends, because he soon enjoyed cooking and started experimenting with different kinds of food and dishes.
  • His love for cooking has lead to bigger things. He has an online cooking channel, where he puts up videos of his cooking. While it started as a joke and something he didn’t take seriously, it quickly became popular.
  • Through those videos, brands, like Knorrox, came calling and he has been invited to the Knorrox Mobile Restaurant  and MC’d a couple of cooking roadshows, including 2013’s Flavours of Durban and The Good Food and Wine Show.
  • He has five favourite dishes to make
  • Pasta: “It’s very easy to cook and there are many ways to you can make a pasta dish interesting.
  • Chicken Livers: “They have to be spicy. Once again another easy to make dish and you can serve it with anything, from pasta, to tortilla wraps
  • Beans: “My favourite dish to make is beans. They are great and I cook sugar beans like my mother.”
  • Curry- “Hot lamb curry, Durban style. I love cooking it the Indian way, so it must be nice and spicy. I’ve learnt how to cook it perfectly.”
  • Roast- “Roasts are the best, especially when you have friends or family over. From chicken, beef and lamb, I make the meanest roast.”

Video Editing

Mzo’s other passion is editing videos.

For his cooking videos, he shoots and then he edits them himself, which he believes makes them better and have more soul than get someone else to do them for him.

He enrolled in a film and video academy, but his radio work kept him from finishing the course, but instead of quitting, he continued teaching himself how to edit videos.
